Nipple Rings

Have you seen women and men with nipple rings? Although it appears to many as something new and odd, nipple rings and nipple piercing has actually been around for centuries. Several reports have revealed that the origin of this fashion trend can be attributed to the Karankawa Indians who pierced the nipple of their male members, as well as to the Kabyle tribe in Algeria who required their females to engage on it. The first recorded evidence of nipple piercing which was done for decorative purposes was that of Queen Isabeau of Bavaria who had exposed her breast with the ring on it. From simply tribal accessory to being decorative, nipple rings had evolved as a fashion statement that everyone living in today’s modern society wants to brag.

A nipple ring comes in different sizes and styles. They are crafted from different materials, including diamond, gold, silver, platinum, plastic, ivory, and glass. The diamond and gold nipple rings are, however, the most popular in the line for several good reasons. Most of these reasons are associated with the quality and decorative effect that both the materials can give. So being popular, it’s no surprise for you to find sets of gold and diamond nipple rings marketed at varying prices.

The question now is how the nipple rings are applied? Well, as what many experts have practiced, the rings are placed on the nipple in two ways: horizontally or vertically. They are inserted into the skin through the areola, which is located just behind the budding part of the nipple. If done in a vertical way, the piercing often includes the so-called “paired” piercing, which simply holds the idea of pairing the vertical ring with a horizontal ring.

To create the best look possible, men and women who consider the trend are often advised to only get a nipple ring that measures about 14 gauges at the least, for the thickness. This limit is recommended to avoid tearing of the tissue, which typically happens when the jewelry worn is too thick for the nipple to carry. Aside from the thickness, the jewelry is also screened for its diameter or length. The diameter is identified though according to the level of tissue that the piercing holds. The ring is often used in this case as a sort of starter, but they are highly valued for they fit perfectly into the skin. They even are easy to clean.

In terms of healing, the men and women nipple rings often stay perfectly in the nipple after three to six months, without any of the bothering sensations. There are some women, however, who experience total healing between the periods of six months to one year. Well, according to several researches and studies, this happens normally to women as they contain some hormones and tissue compositions that are so sensitive than men. Women may also experience certain complications while on the healing period due to their menstrual cycles. With that, it’s no surprise that the nipple rings for men when applied heal faster.

The good thing to note about nipple piercing is that once the nipple rings are perfectly fitted into the areola and the healing process is completed, the nipple tissues will become more developed. They will be more susceptible to sensations, thus they responses easily in just a matter of touch. The tissues will also thicken and become tactile, and they respond safely to any type of nipple jewelry, including dangles, chains, horseshoe attachments, and many more.

Note: When the nipple rings are fitted into the nipple, men and women may notice a whitish-yellow fluid coming out of the skin. Dead body cells may also come out. These, however, are just normal since they are part of the healing process. So if these occur to you, just clean your nipple gently with a wet cloth.
